Materials

Which materials are used in a Naturkind pram?

In our prams we use organic cotton from controlled organic cultivation, organic sheep’s wool from controlled organic animal husbandry, wood, coconut latex and cork elements. If you want to know more about the materials, you can find out here or browse through our certificates.

Why a cork handle?

We use the natural material of cork for our handles. Cork feels pleasant to the touch, it does not lead to sweating in the summer, and it does not feel cold in the winter. The raw material of cork is sustainable and antibacterial.

Can you clean the cork handle?

Yes – Soiled cork handles can be cleaned with lukewarm soapy water and a soft cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or cleaning rags.

Can you replace the cork handle?

Yes – The cork handle can of course also be replaced. It’s very easy – You just have to open the two screws on the height adjustment device and then you can then attach a new handlebar to the pram with cork handles.

What is GOTS?

The Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) is recognised as the world’s leading standard for the processing of textiles made from organically produced natural fibres. It defines environmental requirements at a high level along the entire textile production chain and at the same time the social criteria that are to be complied with. Quality assurance takes place via independent certification of the entire textile supply chain.

How high is the UV protection of the fabrics?

We have our fabrics checked regularly by TÜV Rheinland. All of our fabrics have a UPF rating of 50+ and thus the highest protection class: “excellent UV protection”.

How high is the lightfastness of the fabrics?

We only use GOTS-certified organic cotton fabrics. Our fabrics have a lightfastness and a rubfastness of 3-4, which is why these fabrics lighten somewhat in the course of use (also due to the increasingly intense sunlight). However, it is important to us that your baby does not come into contact with any harmful substances (fixatives or light protection blockers).

What are the positive properties of virgin sheep's wool filling material?

It balances humidity and temperature, relaxes muscles, removes the basis of life from micro-organisms such as house dust mites, and cleans the air around babies.

Why are there pine chips in the virgin sheep's wool of the baby basket and carrycot?

A study by Joanneum Research in Styria in 2003 confirmed what was already known centuries ago: Swiss stone pine has a measurable positive effect on wellbeing. The relaxing and sleep-promoting effect of the wood is mainly attributed to its characteristic resinous-spicy scent.
